Students will have to create their own (free) TechSmith Relay account here to be able to watch videos created by their instructors. How do I watch/create a TechSmith Relay video? Video analytics are tracked so that the instructor can determine how much of the video the students watched.Quiz questions can be built into the video to allow for self-checks and formative assessments.Instructors and students can download the recorder and make videos on their office or home computers.TechSmith Relay can be using inside or outside of Brightspace by D2L.Videos can include a (1) recording of the computer screen (screencast), (2) recording of yourself (using a webcam), (3) recording of outside images or yourself (using the Fuse app).Instructors AND students should create their own account at.Students can watch those videos as well as create their own videos as course projects. TechSmith has worked with several different identity provider systems, including Shibboleth, Oracle Access Manager, CAS (v5+), ADFS, OneLogin, and Google (SAML 2).What is TechSmith Relay? TechSmith Relay is a video creation and hosting service that allows faculty to develop instructional videos. Your organization may use any Identity management system of your choosing, as long as there is an option to use the SAML specification. It may not be clear based on the name of the system, but there may be options within the configuration to enable, or configure a SAML2 provider. Many identity provider systems support SAML v2.0 as an option. TechSmith’s options for implementing SSO include: The TechSmith implementation allows for just-in-time provisioning of users, where an account is only created when the user attempts to sign in. SSO provides a familiar login workflow for users, limits accounts that users have to remember, and allows accounts to be managed in a central location within your organization.
If the user is already signed into the organization’s systems, there will not be an additional need to authenticate again, the user will be redirected back and signed in. Users who try to access your instance of TechSmith Relay are sent to your organization’s sign-on system for authentication. TechSmith currently offers single sign-on (SSO) as an option for our TechSmith Relay customers.
